| “The prime Hotel Europa erected by Signa family gave hospitality in 1861 to the future Kings of Italy and Spain, Umberto the First and Amedeo di Savoia; in 1866 to Prince Jérôme Napoléon Bonaparte and in may 1872 to the Prince of Italian Harmony, Giuseppe Verdi.” Taken from an authoritative historical work.
In Ferrara Hotel Europa is located in an old palace in the heart of the Estensi city. The 1944 bombardment damaged irreparably just some frescoed ceilings; others kept miraculously intact. In the last years Hotel Europa has been completely restored and equipped with the most up-to-date comforts, without giving up its old style and own tradition.
You can breathe the allure of the distinguished past of this mansion in the rooms that face the main street of the city and in the completely frescoed drawing-room suite where you can admire some precious paintings; among them the picture of Napoléon and Joséphine, that is said to be the Emperor’s gift to the owner to thank him for the hospitality.

Hotel Europa joins the allure of its celebrated past to modernity and comfort. The 43 rooms of this old mansion present different aspects and features in order to satisfy any kind of demand.
It is possible to stay in the room that gave hospitality to the great Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi more than a century ago. The nineteenth-century furniture and the precious “cotto” floor – even requested by Firenze for the repair of Palazzo Pitti at the end of the Second World War – are the same ones found by the Maestro.
Staying in the Suite is really a lovely evocative experience: a comfortable room embellished with frescoes, old furniture and a picture of Napoléon.
Other large frescoed, old style rooms can give comfortably hospitality up to four people.
Hotel Europa offers also two new apartments situated inside Hotel Europa building for the people who need the kitchen.
Peaceful and comfortable standard rooms in modern bright style complete the offer.
All the rooms have: telephone, mini-bar, hair-dryer, TV with foreign channels, air conditioning. In Hotel Europa of Ferrara wireless wi-fi is free and available in almost the entire building.
Some rooms are equipped for disabled people. All the areas and rooms of the hotel building can be reached without going up or downstairs. It is usually an appreciated aspect.

By car: the North and South exits of the A 13 Motorway are about the same distance from the city centre and then from the hotel. Hotel Europa staff suggests to choose Ferrara North exit and to follow the signs for downtown Ferrara. Take the main street, Viale Cavour, and, after about 1 kilometre, you will find the Estense Castle on your right. A few metres far away there is Hotel Europa on your left in Corso Giovecca (getting to the Estense Castle, Viale Cavour changes its name into Corso Giovecca). Viale Cavour and Corso Giovecca can be driven both ways.
By train: when you arrive at Ferrara railway station you find taxis (Radiotaxi phone number 0532 900900) and buses (bus number 9 arrives directly in front of Hotel Europa). The distance between Ferrara railway station and Hotel Europa is about 1,5 kilometres.
By plane: when you arrive at Bologna airport you can catch one of the shuttles that get to Bologna railway station, where you can find several trains for Ferrara. If you prefer to rent a car you have to take the ring road (in Italian “tangenziale”) and then enter the A 13 Motorway and follow the signs for Padova.

Hotel Europa is close to Saint Anna Hospital, to the main monuments and museums, to the Public Offices and the Courthouse of the city. Ferrara University has its own seat as well as the majority of its halls in the city centre. The base of Nato Caoc 5 Poggio Renatico is about 15 kilometres far from downtown Ferrara. Ferrara Fair is about ten minutes by car far from Hotel Europa. Bologna Fair is easy to reach arriving from Ferrara as well as going to Ferrara; in fact, it is quite near the motorway entrance for Ferrara on the Ferrara Road (in Italian “via ferrarese”).
