| Today, the Hotel del Campo of Matera is a 4 Star Hotel, the first one ever established in the city of Sassi, during a period in which the strong increase in tourist traffic – and the subsequent development of accommodations – had not yet occurred. The hotel is located in the Matera zone, a few metres from the intersection of Via Gravina along the SS7; the bypass that gives access to the city. Shortly after the intersection, you should travel a few metres and take the first right-hand turn.
By Car:
From the Bologna-Taranto motorway:
- Exit at Bari Nord, and head towards Altamura-Matera (SS 99).
From the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway:
- Exit at Sicignano degli Alburni and head towards Potenza.
- Follow directions to Metaponto (SS 407 Basentana) until you reach Matera.
- From the SS 106 towards Metaponto, follow the signs to Matera.
By Plane:
The closest airport is Bari-Palese (60 km).
